Some ancient dishes are not only not cooked today, but many have not even heard of them. For example, a festive Slavic dish called apple. This, despite the strange name, is a casserole of potatoes, minced meat and mushrooms. Our ancestors knew a lot about food and loved a good table, and this recipe for potato casserole is proof of that!

Prepare food.

Peel the potatoes, rinse and cut into several pieces. Boil the potatoes in a saucepan over low heat until tender, for 20 minutes, then drain the water.

Add milk (2 tablespoons), butter and 1 egg to a saucepan with boiled potatoes. Mash everything thoroughly.

Cut the champignons and onions into small cubes. Divide the onion into 2 parts, for frying the mushrooms and minced meat separately.

First of all, fry the onion in a preheated pan with vegetable oil.
Then put the minced meat on the onion, pepper, salt and fry over low heat for 10-12 minutes.

Also fry the mushrooms with the second half of the onion, frying time - about 10 minutes.

Grease a baking dish with butter and sprinkle with ground breadcrumbs.

Put half of the potatoes in the first layer, level the layer with a spoon.

Next, lay out a layer of minced meat.

The next layer is fried mushrooms.

Top with the remaining mashed potatoes.

With the back of the spoon, carefully make a spiral pattern on the surface of the potato.
Brush with the beaten egg mixture and 1 tbsp. l. milk.

Cook the potato casserole with minced meat and mushrooms in the oven at 200-220 degrees for 25-35 minutes, until golden brown (focus on your oven).

Serve the apple cider, a casserole of potatoes, minced meat, and mushrooms, hot. Enjoy your meal!
