Before you cook the chicken with chickpeas, prepare all the ingredients.

Soak chickpeas in water in the evening.

In the evening, also marinate the chicken. To do this, cut the chicken into portions.

Transfer the pieces of meat to a bowl, add lemon juice, salt, black pepper, 1 clove of garlic passed through a press. Mix the pieces of meat with the marinade well. Cover the bowl with cling film and marinate in the refrigerator overnight.

In the morning, drain the water from the chickpeas, put it in a saucepan and pour 1 liter of water. Add 0.5 teaspoon of salt and cook the chickpeas until tender, 30-35 minutes.

While the chickpeas are cooking, prepare the rest of the ingredients.
Cut 2 cloves of garlic into slices. Cut the onion into quarters.

Melt the oil and butter in a deep frying pan. Add garlic to the pan. Fry the garlic for 1 minute.

Then put the chopped onion into the pan. Fry the vegetables until the onion is soft and transparent for 2-3 minutes.

Add marinated chicken pieces to the pan. Fry the chicken pieces for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the onion is golden brown.

Cut each tomato in half and then cut each half into thin slices.

Put chopped tomatoes on top of the chicken pieces, continue cooking, stirring occasionally. As soon as the tomatoes are juiced and the frying turns orange, add 2-3 tbsp. tablespoons of water to form a sauce.

Cook the chicken in tomato sauce for 20 minutes. In the process of cooking, try the sauce with salt and, if necessary, add salt.

Add boiled chickpeas to the stewed chicken, mix all the ingredients of the dish. Remove the pan from heat and let the dish sit for 5-8 minutes.

Chicken with chickpeas is ready.
